The young, the old, the shy and the bold – they’re all descending on The District, The Shops at Willow Bend’s chef-driven dining and entertainment precinct, to get their fix of culinary and leisure pursuits. Boasting an array of cuisines which caters for everything from quick bites to date nights, as well as interactive entertainment options all ages will relish, The District is the place the people of Plano crave to be.
Award-winning steakhouse, Knife, remains a tempting drawcard for carnivore connoisseurs. The brainchild of James Beard nominated and Bravo’s “Top Chef” contestant John Tesar, it treats guests to locally produced dry-aged prime cuts and specialty cuts and pairs dinner with bespoke events, including Redemption Whiskey Dinners and a cigar club.
Also joining the superior food fare at Willow Bend is Ohashi. This sushi restaurant and bar will open in the summer and stand alongside local favourites Mexican Bar Co., Whistle Britches and Terra Mediterranean. Also soon to open is Acai & Alchemy for fresh, healthy bites. Yet, it’s the rooftop dining and roof deck, complete with cozy fire pits and lashings of self-seating, which will add a whole new dimension to The District.
“It’s an element we don’t see every day,” reveals Bryant Siragusa, Vice President, National Restaurant and Entertainment Leasing. “We’ll have people dining out, overlooking the festivities of the park below. Whether it’s a Friday night concert series or a gala art event, this is already a special space which adds to the atmosphere of The District.”
Cinepolis will soon join the Willow Bend family, showcasing a modern theater with state-of-the-art facilities to complement the offerings of this flagship modern shopping center.
There’s also anticipation in the lead up to fitness titan, Equinox, opening this fall. Regarded as the height of gymnasium luxury, it’s been slated as “more than a fitness club - it’s life”.
Willow Bend’s ultimate interactive encounter for kids, The Crayola Experience, is celebrating its first birthday in March. The young – and young at heart – have been busy in the adventure lab, activity studio, Crayola playground and more and it’s proven an exciting hub which draws guests to Plano from all over Texas.
The ‘Sip and Shop’ initiative from Ascension Coffee also continues to entice. Indulging in a wine or beer while you wander through The District, or peruse the aisles of Macy’s or Neiman Marcus, has resulted in a boom for local retailers. As well, being the only one of its kind in Dallas (and rare find anywhere in the U.S.), this has certainly brought cause for celebration at Willow Bend.
“Experience is the new luxury, and the exciting additions of Equinox and Cinepolis to Willow Bend’s already vibrant array of retail and entertainment options will be a treat for all who visit here,” states Jeff Ziegler, Chief Operating Officer. “Residents and visitors will be able to work out, work, dine, live, play and enjoy life with us. That’s Starwood Retail’s mantra.”
