The opening this month of Kreations, a unique boutique bringing multiple fashion jewelry lines together under one roof, at the Mall at Wellington Green in Wellington, Florida, encapsulates the evolution of the mix at this stunning mall, which is adapting to an increasingly socioeconomically diverse market of South Florida residents and seasonal visitors.
At Kreations, shoppers can mix and match such names as Alex and Ani, Kendra Scott, Swarovski and more to create a unique look -- a particularly apt choice for the shoppers at this project, acquired by Starwood Retail Partners in October 2014.
While Palm Beach County evokes the vision of the ultra-wealthy enjoying leisure pursuits and equestrians in competition, in recent years the market has seen an influx of middle-class families, especially as new housing construction continues to take place. The trade area population is expected to increase 30% between 2010 and 2021, and more than 11,000 residential units will be built in the next decade.
The result is a mix that will offer additional dining, services and fashion, to join an eight-screen Paragon Cinema opening later this year in the former Lord & Taylor location, to serve a growing middle-class demographic. Offering the ultimate in comfort and technology without the luxury price tag, Paragon also will have reserved seating, a bar and lounge, and expanded food offerings at affordable price points.
Newer dining options are distinctly sweet: Great American Cookies opened in January 2016, followed by Fuzziwigs Candy Factory in February, joining California Pizza Kitchen, Kelly’s Cajun Grill, Lotus Express, and Mediterranean Plate. Body & Sole, a spa offering massages, debuted in May, as did Hollister. Torrid opened in July, and more fashion tenants are expected to be announced shortly.
